Connect EveryPenny to Claude

Let Claude read your EveryPenny accounts, transactions, budgets and reports — and, if you allow it, tidy them up. Works on Claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Claude Code.

Claude.ai or Claude Desktop

In Claude, open Customize → Connectors, click + and choose Add custom connector.
Name it EveryPenny and paste the server address below. Leave the advanced settings empty. Click Add.
Click Connect. Claude opens the EveryPenny page with a QR code.
Scan the QR code with your iPhone camera (or in EveryPenny: Settings → AI assistants → Enter a code).
Choose Read only or Read & write and tap Allow. You're back in Claude, connected.
In a chat, check EveryPenny is switched on in the tools menu, and ask away.

On Team and Enterprise plans an Owner adds the connector once in Organization settings → Connectors; everyone then connects their own EveryPenny.

Claude Code

Add the server:

claude mcp add --transport http everypenny https://api.everypennyapp.com/mcp

Run /mcp, choose everypenny and pick Authenticate. Your browser opens the EveryPenny page.
Scan the QR code with your iPhone and tap Allow in the app.

Or paste this to Claude Code and let it do the setup: “Set up the EveryPenny MCP server: run claude mcp add --transport http everypenny https://api.everypennyapp.com/mcp, then run /mcp, select everypenny, authenticate in the browser when it opens, and confirm the EveryPenny tools are available.”

Disconnect

In Claude: Customize → Connectors → EveryPenny → Disconnect. Or in the app: Settings → AI assistants → Disconnect — Claude loses access immediately.

Permissions

Read only

The assistant can see your accounts, transactions, budgets and reports but can't change anything. A good default for questions.

Read & write

The assistant can also add, edit, categorize, label, split and delete transactions, record transfers between your own accounts and set budgets — when you ask it to.

What it can read

Overview — net worth, this month's spending and income, budgets that need attention, bills coming up
Transactions — search by text, dates, category, account, label or amount; full details with receipt lines and splits
Reports — spending or income by category, label or merchant for any period, converted to one currency
Monthly cash flow — income, spending and savings rate
Accounts and balances, categories, labels, budgets, subscriptions and bills, goals, exchange rates

What it can change (Read & write only)

Add, edit or delete cash and other manual transactions
Rename, recategorize, relabel, split or hide any transaction — bank transactions keep the amount and date the bank reported
Categorize, label or hide up to 200 transactions at once
Record transfers between your manual accounts
Create and rename labels; set monthly budgets

What it can't do

Move money. EveryPenny is your ledger — banks are read-only sources.
See your bank logins, or connect and disconnect banks.
See anyone else's data. Every request is limited to your own account.
Read your conversations with the assistant.

Privacy

The assistant only receives what it asks for to answer you, from your account. We don't store your conversations. What the assistant does with your data is covered by its own privacy policy.
